Intro Night

On Friday, September 3rd you can join Sabaah’s first intro night after the summer break. It starts at 6 p.m. on Kifak (next to Onkel Dannys Plads in Vesterbro).
If you want to spend a nice evening with other people who are also new to Sabaah this is definitely a good place for you to start. You can come alone or with a friend. If you have any questions before showing up or just want to exchange a few lines with some of the Sabaah people, you’re more than welcome to send an e-mail to intro@sabaah.dk.
We will offer some snacks, coffee and tea.
International Dag

Sabaah deltager lørdag d. 28. august i Københavns Internationale Dag. Vi vil sammen med en lang række andre københavnske foreninger fremvise noget af al den kulturelle, etniske og seksuelle mangfoldighed som København rummer.
Det foregår på Nørrebrogade fra kl. 12-18. Så kom endelig forbi og få dig en snak med os og med de mange andre foreninger, spis en småkage og nyd de mange fantastiske optrædener fra den store scene.

Festlig, fantastisk, fabulous – Sabaah deltog i Copenhagen Pride 2010

Lørdag d. 21. august deltog Sabaah for andet år i træk i Copenhagen Pride.
Optoget startede ved Frederiksberg Rådhus, gik ned igennem Falkoner Allé, Jagtvej og Nørrebrogade for til sidst at ende på Rådhuspladsen.
Ud over at have en festlig dag fik Sabaah i dén grad gjort positivt opmærksom på sig selv
Sabaahs vogn var pyntet efter alle kunstens regler med balloner, flag og bannere. Efterhånden som vognen rullede tættere ind mod byen og de mellemøstlige rytmer begyndte at have deres indvirkning, nåede stemningen på vognen nye højder.
Ud over at have en festlig dag fik Sabaah i dén grad gjort positivt opmærksom på sig selv. Undervejs fik vi utrolig meget positiv respons fra tilskuerne.
Glæd dig allerede nu til næste år hvor Sabaah sandsynligvis igen vil være at finde blandt deltagerne i Copenhagen Pride.
Summer in Sabaah

The summer is here and with the rest of Copenhagen Sabaah is taking some time to relax and enjoy the good weather. But we’re already beginning to plan our events for the rest of 2010.
We start out on Saturday, August 21st when we’ll be participating with our own float in Copenhagen Pride.
On Saturday, August 28th we’ll be present at Copenhagen International Day together with a bunch of other associations and organizations representing diversity in Copenhagen.
We hope to see a lot of you there. Till then, have a nice summer!
Sabaah website is up and running again!

A Dream of Midsummer with Sabaah and Copenhagen Pride

Mark your calenders for the 23rd of June. For the traditional midsummers nights celebration, Sabaah will join Copenhagen Pride and LGBT.dk for bonfires and relaxation at the beach.
The tradition of the midsummers bonfires reaches quite a way back. Though ostensibly a celebration of John the Baptist, who is rumoured to be born around this date, its origins are pagan and the connection to John the Baptist invented by the Christian church to support their spreading of Christianity in pagan territories, such as Denmark.
Regardless of origin, Sankt Hans, as midsummers night is called in Danish, has for a number of years also been a night for diffferent LGBTQ-organisations in Copenhagen to get together. This year, we will join Copenhagen Pride, LGBT.dk, PanIdræt, CGLFF and Stop Aids in the traditional midsummers celebration at Amager Strand, near the old bath Helgoland.
To get there, take the metro to Øresund station. From there, it is a short walk out to Helgoland. Check the map(PDF) before going; there’s going to be more than just one bonfire.

Sabaah plans the next year

We’ve now returned from our seminar, and have many news in store for the coming year.
The seminar was an opportunity for us to talk about our expectations for Sabaah, as well as what areas we’d like to focus on in the coming year.
Of particular importance to the coming year, we’ve decided to invest more ressources in our outreach-programmes. We will continue with our intro-nights, as well as establishing a night for women only, once a month. We’re also pushing for more lectures and reaching young people where they are.
All-in-all, the next year looks to be exciting for Sabaah, as we transition from creating free spaces towards actively seeking and helping persons with minority backgrounds deal with their life situations and becoming happier people.
Sabaah på Visionsweekend 14-16 maj

Vi har nået meget, men vil gerne mere. Derfor river Sabaahs bestyrelse i en weekend ud af kalenderen til at finde derhen. Det handler om fremtiden, om hvad vi vil, og hvordan vi bliver bedre til det vi allerede kan. Seminaret skal udmunde i en hel række nye tiltag, som skal styrke os og være med til at rykke
Vi glæder os til at løfte sløret for de næste års aktiviteter om ganske kort tid, og sender alle vores venligste hilsener til alle jer, der gør Sabaah muligt – aktivister, medlemmer, venner, og alle andre.

7.maj Intro-aften

Kunne du tænke dig at være med i Sabaah, møde nye venner eller måske bare se hvem der kommer i Sabaah, så mød op på Kifak fredag d. 7. maj kl. 18.00!
Vi snakker om alt mellem himmel og jord, lige fra kærlighed, religion, forældre, søskende, kærester osv. Vi sidder og snakker et par timer, og har man lyst, kan man tage videre på bar eller café sammen med aktivisterne og fortsætte snakken.
